why don't you support them..? i understand not listening to them/thinking they're pointless but saying you don't support it is kinda silly.. they're usually just meant to keep people safe, and while i don't usually read them as they can get pretty long and pointless, they still serve a point..

the internet is not a safe space and accounts are not safe spaces either so no i dont support them most of the time
its not silly it's reasonable i geuss??

i can only understand byf lists that are like "don't follow me if you are a pedophile, homophobic, rapist etc;" but the ones with bs reasons like a opinion or something? no that i dont support.

the internet isnt a safe place but if someone is uncomfortable with certain people following them then why would you hate them for that

what opinions r u talking about because theres some that r like 'dfi u dislike dogs' which is dumb but 'dfi if u like (character)' could be reasonable if the character reminds them of an abuser or something...

okay i would understand if it was "do not follow if you think rape is okay" but not a fictional character

I hate those types of lists too, but how much I hate them depends on how they're worded. If someone wants to make a list saying "hey, before ya' follow me, there's a few things to know", that's fine. Hell, I even have one like that on my own page. It's when they're demanding that I really get irritated. Instead of a simple "before you follow, consider the following", it becomes a "DO NOT FOLLOW IF YOU ______" list, which is annoying and quite frankly stupid, as several of the reasons listed tend to be absolutely ridiculous. And it's not like a list is going to stop anyone from clicking the follow button anyway.

And really, that's the whole issue with them. They're pretty much pointless. Just because you make a list like that doesn't mean people have to actually listen. Most people probably don't even bother reading them.

That sort of thing makes me want to follow them out of spite, like what are they going to do about it?

Yes, thank you. I cannot tell you how annoying these kinds of people are. In fact, when people have stuff like that written in their descriptions, it makes me NOT want to watch/follow them to begin with. It's really pathetic people think they need "safe spaces" on the internet, because you don't get all these special little asspats in the real world. Plus if people really think that's gonna prevent people from following them, they're delusional.

ppl just want a safe space (its their account and they can control it how they like) for their account it's not hard to abide by what they're saying

"safe spaces" don't prepare for the real world
people shouldn't be forced to unfollow an artist that they like
but okay

i honesty get people if they do not want homophobes, pedophiles, etc; but i don't get it at all if they do not want people who simply have a opinion against neopronouns, otherkin, fictionkin, systems and supporting a ship

It's their account, they can do what they want. And honestly, people in the 'real word', don't use """safe spaces""" unless it's actually a traumatic topic that causes extreme distress to that person that they are unable to talk or be apart of that, I've been apart of classes that talk about sexual abuse and rape, and due to my own trauma, I was unable to continue it due to the sensitive topic to myself, It was my decision to excuse myself from that lesson, because it harmed my mental health (Along with that, my therapist often said that I should excuse myself from discussions that cause me to relapse and have extreme stress). That's their entire choice with what they do, in the end, it's their account, they can control it.

Again, it all deals with what type of space they want. A lot of people want a positive space for themselves, and a lot of people feel extremely uncomfortable or upset (especially when they, themselves are those things), and they have a right to say what they want. It can seriously harm and effect someone. You can't just exclude all things, if someone doesn't feel comfortable with someone shipping abusive/incestuous/rape ships, and don't want people following bc of that, they have that right.  You can't just say "I understand these things", but then say "Not these things", bc again, everyone has a specific reason that pertains to them that allows them to feel happy and comfortable/

The internet isn't a safe space and it NEVER will be.

But I do get what you are saying though
Yeah I hate how schools sometimes talk about HORRIBLE traumatizing things in classes
I remember being grossed out in health class once this year. It wasn't about rape at least but it was something else.

Safe spaces censor free speech and that's why I'm probably so confusing about this topic.

I have seen the dumbest BYF lists ever. Like "don't follow me if you are above 18" or "don't follow me if you don't support [insert ship here]"

Most of these lists are unbelievably ridiculous.
Especially when they have shit displayed like "don't follow if you're straight/white/male" or "don't follow if you don't support [insert a random made up sexuality here]"
Do these people really think that their lists prevent other people who actually belong into one of the "don't follow if-" categories from following/watching them?
